I am finally sitting down to write the story of how I started SET. Let’s take it back to graduating from college because I do feel like this context is important. I got a job at NBCUniversal and 8 months into it I put my 2 weeks in. I was bored and felt like I would finish my work within the first hour and then have nothing to do. From there I left to be a social media manager at a trend forecasting company, which was amazing and I learned a ton, but my boss at the time was also a very very very important person in my life and the boundaries were hard to keep so I eventually left that job as well.
I picked up on the trend that I was leaving my jobs before the year was up but didn’t pay close attention to it after that. I got a job as a Marketing Manager at Variety Magazine but the culture and again, my boss, wasn’t for me. I remember having lunch with a friend at Variety and she was like what’s your dream? What do you want to do? I said, “I think I want to work for myself???”. It sparked a conversation that inevitably ended up being the start to my entrepreneurial journey. The very next day I walked into my boss’s office and quit with no plan.
