I have been dying to tell you guys about this for so long. I am the worst secret keeper ever, you guys know I have hinted at this for a couple months now on my tik tok, but today officially, our Chief Brand Officer, Kira Jackson came and joined the team. I will intro her below followed by some fun interview questions that has such valuable information in it but I cannot tell you guys how game changing this is for SET.
I reached out to Kira a couple months ago when we needed to fill our brand role. She asked for the job description and the very next day asked if we can get on the phone because she wanted to chat about the role. I went to Ally, our COO, and was like “why do I have a gut feeling she wants the role? wouldn’t that be insane?” to which Ally replied “yes, that would be insane there is no way.” So then this happened….
so here we go — Meet Kira!!!!!!
Tell me about yourself and your background - I'm Kira Jackson, and well, I'm SET's new Chief Brand Officer! I’ve spent ten+ years in the consumer space building category-defining brands, with a focus on industry disruptors and founder-led companies… in fact, let's throw it back for a second. I started my career in PR as an early employee at a boutique agency called Covet PR, where I opened our LA office, built out our influencer and affiliate marketing department, and aided in exiting that firm to a performance marketing agency, which was owned at the time by a private equity firm. I became the agency's VP of Brand Strategy, and effectively scaled the company 3x+. When the time came to bring on a new $$ sponsor for the business, I served as the brand senior management lead, responsible for supporting in the sale process. I quickly learned that the Private Equity world was lacking in exactly what I could offer - a trained qualitative eye, equally versed in identifying and solving business inefficiencies. Armed with that insight, my network funneled me into a smooth transition onto the buy-side post-sale, investing and supporting the growth of consumer brands at a firm called RX3 Growth Partners. I now serve as an Advisor to the firm, and still angel invest in companies and funds, but my heart and soul is 100% in building SET!
Why SET? - If you know me, you know I'm a picky bitch when it comes to brands; I'm also a tough consumer. So when a brand speaks to me, I know it's the real deal. SET is everything I love - community-first, culturally relevant and influential, content-driven and collaborative; toss in that it's at my sweet spot of growth and scale, and it just felt like the perfect fit. To think that Linds fully bootstrapped this brand to where it is today blows my mind - and also proves what is possible for the company with more support, hands, and infrastructure. It was a right brand, right time, right place kind of thing.
